A midwife has urged pregnant women to shave their nether region before coming to the hospital to give birth.
Joy Eke Ilediagu made the call to expectant mothers via her Facebook account.
She wrote: "Don’t appear like this in labour.
"Help us and help yourself..as soon as you enter the last days of your pregnancy please keep the racing field clean…always shave please.
"If your partner is not helping use mirror.
"If not for anybody just imagine if your baby is coming out and mistakenly grab that hair..my sister e no go funny (jokes though).
"But to be sincere if you know how happy your midwife or doctor will feel when you do a good job down there..it can even help prevent you from tears because that area will be easy to guide
"I’m just a midwife don’t also add hunter work to my job..some will come into labour with a thick forest.
"I know I have good women here who always look clean while coming into labour.
"Let’s have a symbol that you are well informed by your favourite midwife."

How do you expect a heavily pregnant woman to take a shaver down there… how is she supposed to teach the place. Even using veet during such late pregnancy is frowned upon. Mrs midwife be realistic and stop making a mockery of pregnant situations

What type of a disgusting nurse is this one? No empathy whatsoever. I can boldly say that 90% of pregnant women are helpless during their last few weeks of pregnancy. Often at times, the belly is so big that there's no way to reach down there on your own. Your spouse may not be available at that time to help and no type of mirror can help because your belly is too big for you to reach down there. Even when your hubby is willing to help, sometimes the discomfort the woman is experiencing in her whole anatomy does not allow her to let her partner help out. Then imagine a woman pregnant with twins or triplets or even quadruplets. This untrained nurse surely lacks empathy and is not a professional at all. I will advice women not to use this type of human when you are expecting. This type of nurse will make labor hard and unbearable for a woman. It is the duty of the nurse or midwife to shave a pregnant woman if she comes in unshaved during labor. Even male nurses have been known to do this without any complaint how much more a fellow woman? Madam if you don't like your job please quit and let those who have a natural calling to that profession continue doing it. Even in the USA it is the practice. No nurse would berate a woman for this type of trivial bs. Only in Nigeria can someone who swore an oath to help people boldly come out to spill this type of junk and get away with it. Madam nurse you are not only disgusting but a threat to pregnant women. I hope pregnant women would avoid you and the clinic where you work because I can only imagine what their experience would be.

Shift commot jor! If you no sabi work, give space for other better qualified people to handle child birth. Women have been giving birth successfully for thousands of years before the advent of razor blades. Because you want to show your face for internet, you dey yearn nonsense. Ignorance dey your body.

Please save your ignorance. The hair is there for a purpose, I gave birth to all my children in the UK and they never ask women to shave, it has nothing to do with childbirth.

Women in labour actually enjoy the shaving that's why they left it. If you know you know.

Very uncouth statement from someone who is supposed to be in a noble profession. Why go on Facebook to write this nonsense. I thought the pre-natal classes was to educate women on how to manage the pregnancy period. Anyway, I'm not surprised this is coming from a nurse because some said in his post that most Nigerian nurses are those that didn't pass JAMB, and in order to not to stay at home, they decide to go to nursing schools, and we are seeing the result.

Whet kind of silly daft uneducated insensitive unprofessional nurse is this one? She is a disgrace to her profession and should pray that her ignorant post does not come at expensive irreparable cost. Pubic hair is 100% natural and 100% private. Does she think our fore mothers had access to shaving equipment? In His wisdom God created us with hair on specific parts of our bodies for our own health, fitness, protective and medical good. To shave or not to shave down below is simply a matter of preference and has nothing to do with the delivery of God’s precious gifts and the miracle of child birth.

Nonsense. What foolishness is this? How dare she disparage expectant mothers. For now, she should be fired so she can go back to school for bedside manners and sensitivity training.
