Edison Ehie, theChief of Staff to the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara has alleged that he was offered a N5 billion bribe to support the impeachment of his principal while serving as Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Ehie made the revelation when he appeared as a guest on Channels Television on Monday, March 31, claiming that he has the evidence on his phone.
“I can also open my phone to show you, in the beginning of October 2023, they approached me with a bribe of N5 billion. It is here in my phone,
“It was for impeachment. It’s here. I have it and I have printed it and distributed it, in case, in their evil imagination, they decide to attack me. I already have a son and a brother,” he said
On the night of October 29, 2023, an explosion rocked the state Assembly complex.
The explosion brought to light, the deteriorating relationship between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike.
On October 30, after the explosion, the Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, and 26 other lawmakers loyal to Wike, suspended Ehie and three lawmakers loyal to Fubara, alleging that they were responsible for the explosion.
Amaewhule and the 26 lawmakers also proceeded to initiate an impeachment process against Governor Fubara, citing abuse of power and gross misconduct.
The process was, however, stalled after supporters of the suspended governor foiled their attempt.

Nigerians don't believe this statement from you, because you are an interested party to the dispute. And also a typical politician.But the statement made by the former head of service is more credible because of his position as a civil servant.I love Fabura, but I think his public ratings and sympathy he is getting from the public is reducing daily, especially with his threat to bring violence and the head of service confessions.I will advise him to seek reapproachment with the Wike camp. Because the Amaechi, Odili etc will use him to fight Wike and when it's 2027, they will abandon him and look for a candidate they trust will not betray then under any circumstances.

Stop lying. The former Head of Service named individuals in his accusations and confessions. Please specify the name of the person who allegedly offered you N5 billion and where this encounter took place. It's clear logic that contradicts your claim: how could you be offered N5 billion to impeach yourself when you are the second-in-command to the governor, capable of embezzling N30 billion in a year? You are the one encouraging Fubara's misbehavior. You acted as a speaker to a five-member House of Assembly, thinking everything was settled, and then transitioned to Chief of Staff to position yourself as deputy in the second term, with designs to contest after Fubara.

Look how they're spending a Niger Delta and Eastern oil money! Look how North and South West are spending your money anyhow!!
